How an assignment works

The sale of the domain names offered on sleepy.domains is reserved for business buyers acting for the purposes of their activity. The eligibility conditions (business identification, .fr holdership reserved for persons established in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland) are set out in the terms of sale.

An assignment follows five steps, entirely on the platform; email is used only for notifications and confirmation.

  1. Offer & discussion. You make an offer or an enquiry from the domain page. After confirming your email, a conversation opens: offers, counter-offers and messages are kept end to end.
  2. Summary & contract. Once agreed, an order summary presents the parties, the name, the price and the VAT treatment. You then accept the assignment contract and the terms of sale.
  3. Payment. Payment is secured by Stripe. Up to €3,000 incl. VAT, the price is paid in full by card. Above that, a 15% incl.-VAT deposit is paid by card and reserves the name; the balance is settled by bank transfer within 15 days. An invoice is issued for every payment received (deposit, balance or full payment).
  4. AFNIC transmission. No later than 5 business days after the price has been received in full, ma2t initiates the transmission of the name with AFNIC, that is, the holder change. The transmission, which makes you the holder, is distinct from a registrar transfer, which only changes the technical manager. The assignment is perfected when AFNIC records the transmission.
  5. After the assignment. You are free to transfer the name to the registrar of your choice: the authorization code (auth code) is provided free of charge. You may also keep the name with ma2t; management is then governed by a separate registration agreement. The registration period current on the day of the transmission benefits you until its expiry; the first renewal, billed at €20 excl. VAT per year, falls due at that expiry.

Time limits

The time limits binding ma2t (transmission initiated within 5 business days of full payment, refund within 14 days in the event of termination) and those binding you (balance settled within 15 days) are set by the terms of sale; in case of divergence with this page, the terms of sale prevail, and only their French version is authoritative.
